I came across Tania Joy Antonio’s children’s book The Affirmation Station – a beautiful collection of affirmations for kids – through a social platform for moms – Social Common .
The Affirmation Station encourages children to fill their souls up by repeating positive, gentle, kind messages beginning with ‘IAM’. As a Mama herself, Tania Joy Antonio’s intent is to empower children to attain self-love and encourage thoughts for a positive mindset that include gratitude, love and compassion.
I read this book to our daughter before bedtime the other night. I want so much for her to always remember her worth and inner beauty and continue in life with the same fierceness and fearlessness she embodies today. She is only 3 years old, but knowing how delicate the young female spirit can be, I believe the journey to self-love begins with nurturing her self confidence and well-being now. I want her to know there’s a power in being kind to ourselves, to being grateful for the little things, and that maintaining a positive mindset will instill a strength to keep pushing forward when faced with life’s challenges. My hope is my daughter will find affirmations personal to her own journey to keep her spirits high and reframe life’s trials into lessons, not limitations. That she develops an awareness of how the way we think affects what we draw into our life, and that self-love empowers us and allows us to be a light for others. That having an attitude of gratitude will attract more to be grateful for. I know that she and her brothers will look to their Daddy and I as the example of how to go about this, and it’s made us much more mindful of what we do, what we say and how we interact with others when are children are watching. It has also inspired me to ensure I find time daily to fill my own mind with encouraging messages and expressions of gratitude. I want all my children to see and know that the more we speak kindly to ourselves, the more we will believe it and manifest positivity in our lives.
Given her young age, our daughter didn’t fully comprehend the intention behind all the beautiful little messages this book beholds, but she loved the colourful, heart-warming illustrations, and sweet, simple rhymes it contains. The affirmations ‘I AM STRONG’, ‘IAM CALM’, ‘I AM KIND’, for instance, are like little love notes for the soul, encouraging positive thinking for young, impressionable minds. The Affirmation Station also includes a journal at the end for children to write more personal affirmations and record things to be grateful for – a wonderful tool for when she gets a bit older for self-reflection and self-realization.
This literary treasure is not just for girls, of course, and is a wonderful resource for encouraging good thoughts for positive mindsets and grateful hearts in our sons, and us as parents, as well. We love having this book as part of our family literary collection, and we have no doubt you’ll find this book meaningful and empowering for all members of your family as well.
