It’s hard to believe we are in the final stretch of Summer break! While we’ll be soaking in every last drop of it, I’d be lying if I didn’t have back-to-school prep on my mama mind. I’ve learned to chill a bit in getting caught up in the hype of BTS needs, and take time to really sort out what the essentials are. I’m getting the big boys involved in getting BTS-ready, and part of that is sorting through last year’s supplies to see what’s too good to be through, and what needs replacing. This year binders made the need-to-replace list and it was a no-brainer which ones we picked – the ‘Give Back’ binders from Avery Canada because buying one meant one was donated to an under-resourced Canadian school. And we aren’t alone. All you Canadian families who had your A game on for back to school prep are AMAZING and have helped AVERY Canada get mighty close to their goal of donating 50K binders to students in need across Canada!
I know so many other families would want to support feel-good initiatives – especially those that place emphasis on the value of education in bringing positive world change like the Avery ‘Give Back’ movement does, so we’re happy to spread the word. And since binders are sure to be on your junior school-agers list of supplies anyway, the ‘buy one, donate one’ program just makes it so simple to give back in the spirit of helping all kids have access to the tools they need thrive academically & shine this year!

The boys think the binders with customizable peek-a-view templates are the coolest!
So…we’re fired up about keeping the momentum going to help Avery blow past the 50K binder target finish line and because they couldn’t do this without Canadians’ generosity, Avery Canada’s offered our readers more prize packs that will not only get you BTS-ready, but help spread word about the Buy One Donate One initiative!
SEVEN lucky families will win (2) Give Back binders and (1) cool divider. Join the #AveryGivesBack Movement and spread the love for supplies with heart for this BTS season! Contest closing the eve of back-to-school – 11:59 p.m. September 3, 2018! Good luck to all!
And if you’re just too enthusiastic about getting BTS ready before the contest closes, check out the fabulous, trendy binder designs on Avery.ca and head to your nearest Staples Canada location to pick up your fave(s) in-store or shop online at Staples.ca! Let’s help ALL Canadian students ace the coming school year!
My best tip is to go through everything in June and make a list of what you need for September so you can be on the look out all summer!
Excellent tip, Erin! 🙂 All the best to your kiddos for a great school year!
The closest store to me is
40 km
You can shop online at Staples.ca too! Or hopefully WIN a prize pack! Good luck, Kathy! 🙂
My best tip for back-to-school is shop all year,I love shopping those great deals over Summer,it’s much easier on the pocket book.We also reuse anything good from the year before like backpacks, lunchbox, binders
Great tips, Kathy! We definitely sort through the stuff to see what can be reused!
My tip is to start early before everything gets picked over. We shop at least 3 to 4 weeks before school starts.
My tip is to start shopping early and make a list.
Go through last year’s stuff before you shop. Saves some money if you don’t pick up stuff you don’t need
I always hear people say to start early, I disagree, we hold on to summer as long as we can and we go back to school shopping the weekend before school starts because it gets the kids excited to pick out their new supplies and go back to school
I make lunches and pick out clothing the night before to make my morning run smoother.
Check sales flyers for the best deals.
Start early and watch the sales!
Dig out the supplies you have at home, sometimes you forget you already have the things you need. It’s good to not waste those and consider what supplies you have on hand before going bts shopping
We get everything done the week before
go to chip places to buy items
I have three Staples stores that I visited. One in Mount Pearl about 6 KM which is the closest, two in St. John’s, NL one is 8 km and the other is about 18km.
My best tip is start early and watch the sales. Staples as great sales and competitive price.
Good one, Carole! So great to find a good deal!
Purchase things year round, that way you don’t spend in all at one time.
Purchase sales only
I love this…wish I was more on the ball!
My best tip is to make a list of what you need to buy before setting out to the stores, focus and budget. Check the flyers.
Yes! Shopping the best prices is always a win!
So far allowing my kids to be involved has made them feel more confident and as long as they feel good about their supplies they can focus On Doing their best!
So good to get them involved…totally agree!
My best tip is to plan ahead and make/prepare ahead. Put out clothes the day before, prepare lunch the night before,
Those definitely help in the hurried mornings!
start early with some discussion about changes that will be happening so there will be no surprises – well, minimal numbers of negative surprises on the big day. thanks
Good ones!
We discuss (not the night before) what changes are going to be made due to going back to school and have the kids make suggestions on how they can accomplish them.
Start your back to school shopping early in the summer so you can watch for sales and avoid the last minute rush at the end of August.
I find it challenging shopping with my teen for school and supplies so this year i gave her a prepaid card with a budget, together made the list of essentials and supplies needed and she went out and did her own shopping choices! Worked out fantastic! Got everthing needed from suppies, backpack to her own choice of clothes and runners! All within budget! and yes, Staples was her choice for all her school supplies!
My best tip for back to school shopping is don’t leave everything to the last minute and look for deals and sales.
My best tip is to adjust bedtimes the week before school.
Start early by watching for sales throughout the summer to avoid rushing at the end and only getting to choose what is left over.
I always look for deals and grab things during the summer that are on sale
